About Us
Who We Are
Chartered in 1970, CPRHA provides quality, safe, affordable housing to low-income residents in the Virginia counties of Russell, Dickenson, Tazewell and Buchanan. CPRHA operates 309 public housing units on seven properties. The authority is governed by a six-member board of commissioners, which establishes policy. An executive director, hired by the board, manages daily operations and enforcement of federal and state regulations.
"Committed to excellence in providing quality housing and an environment that will ensure all residents opportunity!"
Cumberland Plateau Regional Housing Authority
Resident Services
Besides providing safe, quality, affordable housing to our residents, we also strive to enhance their quality of life and create opportunities for self-improvement. Our resident services department links tenants to resources they may need or services aimed at helping them reach economic self-sufficiency.
The Resident Opportunity and Self-Sufficiency (ROSS) program is designed to help participants increase earned income, reduce or eliminate the need for welfare assistance, and make progress toward achieving economic independence and housing self-sufficiency. For example, the ROSS coordinator may connect residents to adult education courses, financial literacy classes, mental health or substance abuse counseling, or job skills assessment and training programs.
The ROSS program is available to every resident of the housing authority who is at least age 18. Contact our ROSS coordinator at (276) 889-4910 ext. 117 for more information about the program.
Our Board of Commissioners
A six-member board of commissioners governs Cumberland Plateau Regional Housing Authority. Four members are appointed by their respective boards of supervisors in each county served by the authority; those representatives then appoint a fifth member. The Department of Housing and Urban Development also requires at least one commissioner to be a public housing resident.
Meetings
CPRHA Board of Commissioners meets the first Thursday of each month at 11 AM in the authority office, 35 Fox Meadow Drive, Lebanon, Virginia.
